Taco Bell is one of the most popular chain restaurants in the country thanks to its delicious, low cost take on Mexican food. Keto dieters will be happy to know that there are multiple low carb options available to them on the original menu and even more options if you are creative and ask for substitutions.
We've done the keto research for you and based on their official nutrition information there are 20 keto options available at Taco Bell with less than 20g of carbs. Unfortunately, fan favorites like the Crunchwrap Supreme or Cheesy Gordita Crunch are well above 50g of carbs, which makes them unsuitable for even the most relaxed keto diet.
How to Order Keto at Taco Bell
Most items at Taco Bell are not keto because the tortilla and taco shells they use are too high in carbs. For example, the burritos and quesadillas are off-limits since the large tortilla at Taco Bell contains 35g of carbs.
Many of these burritos and quesadillas can be ordered "bowl-style", without the tortilla, for a filling and keto lunch or dinner that hovers around 2-4g of net carbs! Try the Chicken Soft Taco Supreme or the Chicken Quesadilla Melt, just ditch the tortilla and beans.
If you are in the mood for some crunch from the taco shell, we recommend going with the Doritos Locos tacos which come in at 10-12g of net carbs. It's going to take up the majority of your carb allowance for the day, but it won't kick you out of ketosis! A few other higher carb options are the Chicken Chipotle Melt and Crunchy Taco for 14g and 10g of net carbs.
Finally, whatever keto option you decide to order, make sure to take full advantage of Taco Bell's sauces which are flavorful and low carb, with most having less than 1g of net carbs per packet.
